Pro Helvetia and HEAD – Geneva, Department of Interior Architecture, jointly organize a round table prior to the Prague Quadrennial 2019 (June 6-16, 2019). The contribution of Switzerland, commissioned by Pro Helvetia, focuses on the theme of contemporary hybrid and artificial landscapes.
In the evening, the team of artists and architects who will represent Switzerland at the next Quadrennial, Fragmentin & KOSMOS, will be in conversation with Leo Fabrizio, artist-photographer and author of the series ARCHETYPAL LANDSCAPE. The conversation will be moderated by Michael Jakob, teacher at HEAD and hepia, and Javier Fernandez Contreras, head of the department of interior architecture at HEAD.
The conference will focus on the field of (interior) architecture by illuminating this subject from different angles that address current sociocultural and artistic themes, such as artificial landscapes, scenography of natural and artificial landscapes, artificial landscapes and natural interiors.
The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space is the most important platform for scenography in the world. Founded in 1967 and held once every four years, it explores aspects of scenography as a transdisciplinary field where the performing arts, visual arts and architecture meet and converge. At the heart of the Quadrennial is the section «Countries and Regions», in which artists from over 60 countries are offered a unique opportunity to present new forms of scenography. Pro Helvetia is responsible for Switzerland’s contribution to the Quadrennial. For the next edition of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, that takes place from 6 to 16 June 2019, Pro Helvetia have commissioned, by way of a competition, the team of artists and architects Fragmentin & KOSMOS to mount the project «Artificial Arcadia: measured and adjustable(?) landscapes»
