Marie Torrione is a Swiss interior designer who obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture with honors from HEAD-Genève in June 2018 and graduated from the Master MAIA program at HEAD-Genève in June 2024.
Wanting to broaden her experience and gain autonomy in her practice before starting a Master’s degree, she had the opportunity to work at CLR Architects SA in Plainpalais (Geneva) for four years. During this time, she worked on a variety of projects, including a secondary school, apartment buildings, and a hospital, which enabled her to broaden her architectural horizons and gain a solid base of professional experience.

Patrimoine Augmenté
With an increase in single-parent families, indicated by a divorce rate of 41.5%, and a rapidly growing population of senior citizens, now comprising 19% of the population, the traditional housing model faces challenges further exacerbated by the land’s inherent non-expandability.
In response to this problem, Patrimoine Augmenté is transforming a dilapidated building into intergenerational housing by densifying its space.
Located in the Grottes district of Geneva, this project aligns with the spirit of the area: social, supportive, and protective of the built environment. The residential space is densified and enlarged by an extension. The adjacent renovated workshop continues to operate.
The renovation offers flexible, intimate spaces that can be adapted to different family patterns: modular, scalable rooms thanks to a system of pivoting doors that redefine spatial configurations. Rooms vacated during shared custody can be rented out. The apartments are oriented towards large common spaces, encouraging sharing and the exchange of services within this intergenerational cohabitation.
