Dany Champion is a Swiss interior designer. Her work explores the design process as an infinite field of experimentation, in constant interaction with craftmen and materials.
Her MAIA graduation project, not obsolete anymore! explores lost use objects from the 18th to the 19th century. Objects are precious witnesses of their time and the uses of a certain era. Not long ago, object making was more of an art than an industry. Since then, manufacturing techniques and materials have changed radically compared to previous centuries. Following evolution, some objects have become obsolete, even disappeared.
The project wishes to take a step backwards, and question our relationship to objects, but also to our way of conceiving. Not obsolete anymore! is a collection, realized with local craftsmen, wishing to reintegrate old uses in a contemporary context. Thus, the sugar breaker, the light board and the watch holder meet our 21st century interiors and question our habits.
