EPIC PICNIC is a project for the European Heritage Days, to be held in Geneva in September 2024. Celebrating the built heritage of the city, it transforms Hentsch Park into a large-scale neighborhood picnic for the duration of a day.
EPIC PICNIC is organized by MAIA students on the former football field of Charmilles, surrounded by historic industrial buildings. The project explores the intersections between the city, its history, heritage, architecture, and societal evolution.
EPIC PICNIC is inclusive and welcomes a plurality of human and non-human visitors of all ages, origins, genders, and spheres of belonging. Amidst the festivities of music, dancing, sports, and leisurely picnicking, attendees can enjoy chess, pétanque, stargazing, and cinematic screenings, fostering a day where past and present converge.
