Yony Santos studied architecture at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio and at the Higher Technical University College of Architecture in La Coruña. In 2007 he completed the European Leonardo da Vinci programme in Belfast and an MAS at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki. Having collaborated with Atelier Peter Zumthor & Partner AG in Chur and Jean-Christophe Quinton Architecte, Paris, Santos established TYPICALOFFICE in Geneva, a laboratory specialised in urban strategies, spatial mediation, and digital scenography. Winner of the international Europan Suisse competition, his projects have been recognised at the Swiss Art Awards in Basel and among other Swiss and international institutions.
Alongside his architectural practice, Santos has taught as studio director at the EPFL, Lausanne, and as assistant professor at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio. Since 2016 he has also been collaborating as editor and editorial manager for the architecture platform espazium.ch in Zürich.
